Putting on the New Man

Daily Devotional – Friday, July 18, 2025
…and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…
Colossians 3:10 (NKJV)

We all want a fresh start sometimes. It helps us to grow, to change, and to become better versions of ourselves. Our key text reminds us that through Christ, we have been given that chance. When we said yes to Jesus, we were given a new identity, not just a surface-level change, but a deep, ongoing transformation.

Renewed in Knowledge in God’s Image

This new self is not about pretending to be perfect. It entails becoming more like Jesus every day, little by little, as we learn more about who He is and how He loves. God-powered character transformation does not happen in an instant. It is also not easy for us, but it is real. God is constantly working in us, renewing our hearts and reshaping our thoughts to reflect His.

The truth is, we all have moments when we slip back into old habits, old mindsets, or old ways of reacting. God, nevertheless, gently calls us back each time. He reminds us that we are His and that we are new creatures. That is why we can keep moving forward with hope.

Putting on the New Man

Put on the new man. Instead of carrying the weight of who you used to be, remember you are being renewed. You are growing and becoming more like the One who made you. He’s not finished with you yet.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me a new identity in You. Help me to keep learning, keep growing, and keep walking in the new life You have given me. Change my heart to reflect Yours more each day.
