Why Your Attitude Towards Work Matters

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, July 23, 2025
He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
Proverbs 10:4 (NKJV)

We all want to be blessed and to live a life that is full, purposeful, and fruitful. Today’s key text emphasizes that the way we approach our work matters. It encourages us to be people who give our best in whatever we are doing.

He Who Has a Slack Hand Becomes Poor

God honors faithful effort, whether it is your job, your schoolwork, your business, your ministry, or taking care of your home. He is not asking us to be perfect or to hustle ourselves into exhaustion. Rather, He commends the person who shows up, does the work, and trusts him with the outcome.

Laziness is not just about lying on the couch all day. Sometimes it shows up as procrastination, giving half-hearted effort, or avoiding the responsibilities we know we should handle. When we live like that long enough, it catches up with us, not just financially, but spiritually and emotionally too.

Why Your Attitude Towards Work Matters

But when we choose to be diligent, when we get up, do the hard things, and stay consistent, we create space for God’s blessings to flow. He is not looking for flashy success; he is looking for faithfulness.

Are you giving your best in the areas God has entrusted to you? Is there something you have been putting off that God is asking you to take seriously? How can you shift your mindset to see work as a form of worship?

Prayer
Almighty God, thank You for the gift of work. Teach me to be faithful in the little things and to approach my tasks with a good attitude.
