Seeing Beyond the Current Pain

Daily Devotional – Friday, July 25, 2025
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
2 Corinthians 4:17 (NKJV)

When life is heavy, when pain is real, when you are exhausted and cannot see a way out, it definitely doesn’t feel “light” or “temporary.” However, in today’s key text, Paul reiterated that our pain will not last forever.

Our Light Affliction

Paul was not speaking from a cushy life. He had been beaten, shipwrecked, rejected, and imprisoned. The apostle knew pain, but he also knew that God was doing something through the pain. The hard moments are meant for shaping something eternal (something we cannot fully see yet), but that will one day make all of our suffering worth it.

God is not ignoring your struggle. He is not minimizing your tears. Rather, He is gently holding every broken piece and weaving it into a future that is far greater than you can imagine. It will entail a glory that will not fade, a peace that cannot be shaken, and a joy that will last forever.

Seeing Beyond the Current Pain

Your pain is real, but it is not forever. God is using it to prepare something eternal, beautiful, and beyond anything you can imagine. Keep going. Heaven is worth it. It is okay to feel overwhelmed, but don’t lose sight of where this is heading. God’s glory outweighs the pain, and this glory is closer than you think.

Prayer
Almighty God, when life feels hard, help me see through the current pain and realize you are doing something bigger than I can see. Remind me that what is ahead with You is far greater than what I am going through now.
