How to Serve God

Daily Devotional – Thursday, August 14, 2025
Serve the LORD with gladness. Come before His presence with singing.
Psalms 100:2 (NKJV)

Psalm 100 is a brief yet deeply uplifting song of praise. Our key text captures the very heart of its joyful invitation to worship. In ancient times, it was probably recited or sung during temple gatherings, which were moments filled with music, processions, and celebrations. It was also the time when the people of Israel came together to present their offerings and lift their voices in gratitude to God.

Serve With Gladness

Serving God is not meant to feel like a chore. It is a gift and an opportunity to show Him our love. The psalmist encourages us to serve the Lord with a heart full of gladness, not out of mere obligation. This kind of joy is not tied to whether life is easy or hard. Rather, it flows from knowing who God is and remembering His goodness, mercy, and faithfulness.

How to Serve God

Coming before Him with singing is more than music. It is approaching God with a joyful heart that can’t help but express itself. Sometimes that joy shows up in a song, sometimes in a prayer, and other times in simple acts of love and kindness. A joyful spirit in service has a way of inspiring others because it shows them a glimpse of the hope and peace found in God.

Today, let us not simply go through the motions but serve with glad hearts, willing hands, and a joy that points others toward the Lord.

Prayer
Almighty God, thank You for the blessing of serving You. Fill me with gladness so that everything I do reflects Your love. May my life overflow with praise and joy that leads others closer to You.
