Fruits Don’t Lie!

Daily Devotional – Friday, August 15, 2025
Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.
Matthew 7:20 (NKJV)

In recent times, self-proclaimed prophets and preachers have multiplied, yet many act in ways that contradict their calling. Some exploit followers economically, emotionally, or socially while claiming to serve God. Even unbelievers wonder who truly is a messenger of God.

By Their Fruits You Will Know Them

This is not new. Early in His ministry, Jesus taught His disciples how to distinguish genuine servants of God from impostors. Impressive sermons, charisma, kindness, and miracles can mislead us, but one test never fails.

Jesus likened people to fruit trees. Each bears fruit according to its kind. An avocado tree may claim to be a mango tree, but when it flowers and produces fruit, its true nature is clear. No eloquent speech can change that.

Church attendance, giving, visiting the sick, and helping the poor are noble, but they are not the ultimate proof of a transformed soul. The clearest evidence is the Holy Spirit’s work in changing thoughts, attitudes, character, and speech. Such transformation is unmistakable to both believers and unbelievers.

Fruits Don’t Lie!

Fruits don’t lie. Deep down, we all know the kind of life God calls us to model. When you invite the Holy Spirit into your heart and fully surrender, the fruit of the Spirit begins to grow in you (see Galatians 5:22–23).

So, if you want to discern whether someone is truly a man or woman of God, look beyond their miracles or public image. Watch their character, because in God’s kingdom, it is the fruit, not the performance, that reveals genuine faith.

Prayer
Holy Spirit, come and live in me that I may bear fruits of righteousness that will attract others to You, because fruits don’t lie.
