Trusting Through Trials

Daily Devotional – Saturday, August 23, 2025
So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
1 Peter 4:19 (NIV)

No one enjoys suffering. It is draining, confusing, and often feels unfair. The Apostle Peter, however, reminds us that sometimes pain comes, not because we did something wrong, but simply because we are following Jesus. When that happens, we must decide whether we will give up, grow bitter, or trust God and keep moving forward.

Those Who Suffer According to God’s Will

Peter calls God our faithful Creator. That is a powerful reminder. Because He made us, He knows us inside out. Because He is faithful, He will not let us walk through hard times alone. We can place our lives in His hands, even when we don’t understand what is happening.

Notice, also, that Peter does not just want us to trust God during the moments of trial; He wants us to “continue to do good.” We should not let hardship harden our hearts. Instead, we should keep serving, loving, and living out our faith. Suffering does not hold the ultimate authority. God’s goodness does. That’s why we should tap into God’s power and face trials with boldness.

Trusting Through Trials

When life feels unfair, do you tend to pull away from God or lean closer to Him? What’s one small way you can choose to keep doing good, even in the middle of a tough season? God wants you to trust Him through trials and to continue to do good.

Prayer
Almighty God, when life is heavy, remind me that You are faithful. Help me not to give up, but to trust You through my trials. Faithful Creator, empower me to continue doing good at all times.
