Light That Darkness Cannot Overcome

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:5 (NKJV)

We all know what it feels like to experience anxiety, the ache of loss, or the sting of disappointment. This kind of darkness can feel suffocating, as if it is closing in and there is no way out. According to John, though, Jesus is the Light, and no matter how deep the darkness, it cannot overcome Him.

The Light Shines in the Darkness

Think about what happens when you flip a light switch in a dark room. The moment light appears, the darkness retreats. It does not fight back; it simply cannot stay. That is what Jesus does in our lives. His presence pushes away fear, exposes the lies of the enemy, and brings clarity and peace.

The mistakes you have made, the battles you are fighting, and the doubts you wrestle with cannot extinguish His light. Jesus has already defeated the ultimate darkness through His death and resurrection. That same light now lives in you, giving you hope, strength, and courage.

Light That Darkness Cannot Overcome

Even more, you are called to reflect His light in the world around you. Small acts like a kind word, a helping hand, or a prayer for someone hurting can shine brightly in a dark and broken world. You don’t have to be flawless. You simply need to let His light flow through you.

Lord Jesus, thank You that Your light shines in every season of my life. Help me trust that no darkness can overcome You, and let me shine Your light to those around me.
