God Wants Everyone at the Table

Daily Devotional – Sunday, September 7, 2025
…who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV)

A boy once walked along the beach after a storm, tossing stranded starfish back into the ocean. Someone watching said, “You’ll never save them all.” The boy smiled, threw one more into the waves, and said, “But I saved that one.” His simple act reminds us of God’s big heart. He cares about every single person, one by one.

An Open Invitation

The Apostle Paul encourages Timothy, the young pastor of a divided church, to pray for everyone, including rulers and people in authority, even the ones who don’t seem godly. God’s heart is not small or selective. He wants all people to be saved and to know the truth that is found in Jesus.

That truth is huge. God’s love is not only for church people, the “good ones,” or those who seem easy to love. His love includes the broken, the doubters, and the ones we might be tempted to write off. No one is outside the reach of His grace.

God Wants Everyone at the Table

This is reassuring, because it means we never have to wonder if we are “too far gone” for God. His heart is open wide for us. It is also stretching because it challenges us to see others the way He does. If God wants everyone at His table, then we shouldn’t be picky about who we invite or pray for.

Take a moment to think of someone you have been tempted to give up on. Pray for them. Look for a way to show kindness or share hope. Remember that God does not give up on anyone, so neither should we.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving everyone, including me. Help me to reflect Your open heart and never grow tired of praying for those who still need You.
