Following God’s GPS

Daily Devotional – Monday September 29, 2025
Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the Ark of the Covenant and cross over before the people.” So they took up the ark of the Covenant and went before the people.
Joshua 3:6 (NKJV)

Have you ever been on a road trip to a place you have never been before? Without GPS or someone who knows the way, you would likely end up lost or frustrated. That is precisely why the Israelites needed the Ark of the Covenant to go ahead of them as they prepared to cross the Jordan. The Ark represented God’s presence, and His presence was their ultimate guide.

Every Step With God

Joshua had just stepped into leadership after Moses, and God wanted the people to know that Joshua was His chosen servant. So, He arranged a miracle that would both affirm Joshua’s leadership and remind Israel of an important truth: they could only reach the Promised Land if God went before them.

There were good reasons the Ark had to lead the way. First, the people had never walked that path before. Second, it would be God’s power, not their strength, that would bring them across the Jordan and into victory over their enemies. Third, it taught them to always prioritize God, putting Him first in every journey, every decision, every battle.

Following God’s GPS

That lesson still applies to us today. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but God does. He sees what we cannot, and He knows what lies beyond the bends in our road. Allowing Him to go before us means trusting His wisdom over ours, surrendering our plans, and inviting Him to direct every step.

When we put God first in our work, studies, businesses, relationships, and families, He promises to take care of the rest. The question is, will we let Him lead?

Prayer
Almighty God, I surrender my plans to You. Go before me and lead me, for I know Your way is always best.
