Daily Devotional – Saturday, October 18
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Psalm 32:1 (NIV)
There is nothing quite like the feeling of being forgiven. I once watched a story about a man who had been in prison for years but was later pardoned. The joy on his face said it all. Though he had done wrong, mercy had triumphed over justice. That moment reminded me of how it feels when God forgives us, not because we deserve it, but because of His grace.
When Forgiveness Sets Free
I remember a time I hurt an older friend and carried the guilt for months. Whenever I saw him, I would change direction to avoid him. One day, I could not escape. I gathered my courage and asked for forgiveness. When he said, “I forgive you,” I felt an indescribable sense of relief. It was as if a huge burden had been lifted from my heart.
Psalm 32 captures this experience perfectly. The person who is forgiven is truly blessed, meaning they are deeply happy. But when we hide our guilt and refuse to come clean, it eats us up from within. It robs us of peace, drains our energy, and steals our joy.
When Forgiveness Sets Free
Forgiveness is a divine gift that restores our hearts. God is always ready to forgive when we confess sincerely. The moment we do, He replaces our guilt with peace and our shame with joy. That is the true freedom of forgiveness, and that is the freedom we all crave.
Prayer
Loving Father, thank You for Your mercy that wipes away my sins and the grace that sets me free. Help me to live in the freedom of Your forgiveness and to extend that same grace to others.
