The Test of Genuine Love

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, February 11, 2026
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18 (NIV)

A manager talked about how much he valued each employee and praised teamwork at a company party. Later that week, he didn’t listen to a staff member who was having a difficult time and asked for time off because of a family emergency.

The Quiet Proof of Faith

John tells Christians to do more than just say nice things. He tells us that what we do and how we live is the best way to show love. When people make empty promises, they don’t feel better for long. In everyday life all over the world, real love steps up, helps, and shows how Christ changes people.

Many people think that when they say nice things or mean well, they show love. God wants His people to think about whether what they do matches up with what they say. Love shows up when we help others without expecting anything in return.

The Test of Genuine Love

Jesus took in the lost, fed the hungry, and healed the sick. There were clear signs that his love changed lives. Believers let the Holy Spirit decide what’s most important to them when they follow His lead. For many people today, genuine love serves as a powerful testimony that surpasses any persuasive words.

Today, give someone who is having a hard time real help, give a tired friend real support, or meet a need that no one else sees. Pray that what you do matches what you believe. Choose love that people can see, feel, and remember every day by the way you treat them with care no matter what.

Prayers
Heavenly Father, help me love you every day by doing things that show Your heart and truth.
