…and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever
Daniel 12:3 (NKJV)
The sky has thousands of stars on a clear night. In ancient days, a fixed star in the night sky was a reassuring and comforting sign that stood for navigation. It also stood for reaching one’s destination, for having an anchor in the darkness, and for feeling safe en route and not lost in an endless sea.
Where Influence Begins
According to Daniel, those who lead many to do what is right on earth will be like shining stars forever. What an amazing picture! God declares that faithful influence is like light that never goes out. He considers it essential to influence others to do what is right.
You don’t need a large following or to become famous to be an influence and turn many to the path of righteousness. Influence often takes place in everyday conversations. We may never even realise the influence we have on others, but God sees all that we do in our pursuit of Him.
When the Lights Come On
You are a blessing to others when you are consistent. Being consistent takes time, patience, and humility. We cannot force others to change, but we can live our lives in such a way that others see clearly who our Christ is. Our choices, words, and actions can be “unspoken signs” that demonstrate our faith.
Where has God placed you? Who looks up to you? Who listens to what you have to say? How can you shine today? How can you remain true to who you are while guiding others to act responsibly and honourably?
Pray
Heavenly Father, help me live as a shining light so that I may honour you and point the way to a righteous path for others.
