Where the Storm Cannot Reach

Daily Devotional – Sunday, March 8, 2026
For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy.
Psalm 61:3 (NKJV)

When there is a severe storm at sea, experienced sailors don’t fight the wind or waves. They are only interested in one thing: finding a safe place to dock. The storm may not stop at the harbour, but the walls are strong enough to keep the wind out.

Running Towards the Tower

In ancient days, a tower was a safe place to hide from enemies who couldn’t easily get to you. The psalmist says that real security doesn’t come from things changing; it comes from God always being there for His people as a safe place to go.

When trouble comes, God wants us to run toward Him instead of resorting to quick fixes. His presence creates a spiritual high ground where anxiety loses its grip and perspective starts to come back. Hope grows stronger in hearts that trust him again.

Where the Storm Cannot Reach

David wrote these words when he was in danger and didn’t know what would happen next. He felt safe, though, because he knew God was on his side. The psalmist knew that the Lord would be faithful again because he had been before. A strong tower stays up because its base is strong, and God’s reliability never wavers or changes over time or under stress.

Today, you need to be where the storm cannot reach. Give all of your worries to God and pray. Let Him be the place where your heart feels at peace. Choose to walk toward that tower and rest there with quiet confidence and new strength for whatever comes next.

Prayer
Almighty God, help me run to You for safety because the storm cannot reach where You are.
