But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law.
Galatians 4:4 (NIV)
Think about planting a seed and then waiting. You water the soil, check the ground, and hope for signs of life. Day after day, nothing seems to change, and it is tempting to wonder if the seed is doing anything at all. Still, beneath the surface, growth is quietly happening. When the sprout finally appears, you realise the waiting was necessary.
From the Cradle to the Cross
Today’s guiding text reminds us that Jesus came in the same deliberate way. God sent His Son when the set time had fully come. Not a moment earlier, not a moment later. Jesus was born of a woman, stepping fully into our human story with its limits and pain. He was born under the law, carrying its weight so He could accomplish what we never could. His first coming was not rushed. It was purposeful, loving, and carefully timed.
Jesus did not arrive when people expected Him to. Many hoped for immediate change and quick rescue. Yet God knew when the world was ready and when hearts were most aware of their need. Like a seed breaking through the soil, Christ’s arrival marked the right moment for new life to begin. God’s timing proved to be wiser than human expectation.
From Fulfilled Hope to Future Glory
Now we live in another season of waiting as we look toward Christ’s return. Waiting can feel long and personal, especially when we are tired or hurting. We need to trust the God who understands seasons. The same God who sent His Son at the perfect time will act again at the right moment. Until then, we wait with hope, trusting that growth is happening even when we cannot yet see it.
Prayer
Father, help me trust Your timing as I wait, believing You are still at work.
