Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and, through us, diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
In ancient Rome, when a general won a major war, the city would honour him with a public parade. During the procession, he led a long parade winding through the streets, where people burnt incense and cheered and watched. The smell would permeate the entire area and fill the air. That scent was a clear sign that the battle was over and the victory had already been won.
The Fragrance of Triumph
This is the picture Paul uses to help us understand what Christ has done. Jesus is the One who has won the victory, and He now leads those He has rescued. We were once under the power of sin and the evil one, but Jesus came for us and brought us out. Now we walk with Him, not as people trying to win, but as people who are already part of His victory.
That changes how we see our lives. You are no longer trapped in what once held you. You belong to Christ, and He is leading you forward each day. Some days may still feel challenging or confusing, though your place has already changed. You are not where you used to be, and you are not walking alone.
How to Celebrate Victory
As you follow Him, your life begins to carry something of Him to others. And as that fragrance fills the streets, so does the knowledge of God through your words, your actions, and your quiet faith. People may respond in different ways, though the point remains the same. Christ is making Himself known through you.
Now you can live with a steady heart, knowing the outcome is not uncertain. Christ has already won, and He is leading you in that victory. Draw nigh unto Him, trust Him and keep walking with Him, one step at a time.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the victory you have won and bringing me out of the darkness. Help me to follow you each day and live in the freedom you have given me.
