Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:17 (NKJV)
On a long trip, a driver didn’t use his GPS. Instead, he trusted his instincts, believing he had discovered a more efficient route. He got lost, was mad, and ran out of gas after a while. The problem was that he wouldn’t follow the clear directions that were already given.
Seeking Clarity in a Confusing World
Today’s key text says that Christians should follow God with understanding. God hasn’t made it hard to understand what He wants. He tells people what He wants them to know through the Bible, brotherly counsel, and the Holy Spirit. Being humble makes things clearer every day.
We drift when we don’t pray, when we make snap choices, or when we blindly follow cool trends. You have to pay attention and give up before you know what God wants. Stop and think about why you do the things you do. Then choose things that are more in line with Christ than with what is easy.
Seeking Clarity in a Confusing World
God’s will is not a secret plan. We give Him our daily plans, and He shapes our needs and leads our steps. As we do so, He enables us to identify areas in our lives that need change. In return, God honours those who really want to find Him.
Let the Lord handle your plans, relationships, and goals. Ask Him to change your path if you need to. Read the Bible before you check your call or email. Choose knowledge over impulse. Trust Him to show you the next step after you have taken the one that shows His will.
Prayer
God, please help me understand what You want me to do and give me the strength to do it every day.
