Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples!
1 Chronicles 16:8 (NKJV)
One of King David’s deepest aspirations was to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. The Lord assisted His servant in preparing an honourable and secure location for the ark, which caused an overflow of joy when the ark arrived in Jerusalem.
When Gratitude Becomes a Witness
David wrote a Thanksgiving song to honour the occasion and gave it to the musician, Asaph. This psalm contains an intriguing thread from which current Christians can learn. It is about how we should respond to good news, particularly when God has done amazing things in our lives.
From the beginning, the psalmist establishes a link between thanking and praising God for His amazing works and conveying the good news to others, especially those who worship other gods. The wonderful news is intended to be spread.
The Overflow of a Thankful Heart
We should not remain silent when God answers our prayers. Our testimony may be how those who don’t know God come to know Him. When we remember that Jehovah is the only true God and that all others are idols, we will proclaim the Lord’s works worldwide.
There is a person within your grasp who requires exactly the kind of testimony you provide to surrender to God. Someone has to understand that there is a God who forgives sin and offers sinners a second opportunity. Someone in despair needs to hear that there is hope for today and tomorrow for God’s children. Do not be quiet. Make some noise for God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I will no longer remain mute. I must proclaim your wonders wherever I am.
