What Are You Forgetting in the Rush of Life?

Daily Devotional – Tuesday, September 15, 2026
I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.
Leviticus 26:12, NKJV

God had told Israel how He wanted them to live. They were to worship Him and obey His commands. He also promised to live among them. “I will walk among you,” He said. Think about what that meant for people who were learning to live as a nation after leaving Egypt. God was not merely giving them laws to follow. He was establishing a relationship with them. He would be their God, and they would be His people.

The Difference His Presence Makes

The promise of His presence came after God spoke about the life Israel was to live in the promised land. He promised to send them rain and to provide them with abundant harvests. He would also keep their enemies from overwhelming them. These promises were part of Israel’s covenant with God. Then, beyond food and security, God gave them something personal: He would live among them.

When God said, “I will walk among you,” He was telling Israel that He would be with them in their life as His people. “I will be your God” spoke of their relationship with Him, while “you shall be My people” spoke of their belonging to Him. The promise was about God’s presence and their relationship with Him. Israel was to live each day knowing that they belonged to God and that He had chosen to dwell among them.

What Are You Forgetting in the Rush of Life?

You may spend most of your day doing things that seem completely ordinary. You go to work, answer messages, prepare meals, care for your children, study, or deal with people who test your patience. It is all too simple to separate these things from your life with God. Yet your relationship with Him is part of everything you do. Knowing you belong to God should affect how you speak, make decisions, and treat people.

As you go through today, remember that God is not someone you think about only when you pray or attend church. Your relationship with Him belongs in your everyday life. Talk to Him about what is happening around you. Let His Word guide your choices. When you are tired, frustrated, or under pressure, remember that you belong to Him. You may have an ordinary day ahead, but you can live it with God at the centre.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me remember that I belong to You as I go through this day. May my relationship with You be evident in the way I speak, choose, and treat the people around me.
