What You Might Miss If You Rush

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, April 22, 2026
The end of a thing is better than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NKJV)

A man once planted a small fruit tree in his yard and checked on it every day. After a few weeks, he grew frustrated. There was no fruit, barely any change. He thought about digging it up and planting something else. An older neighbour noticed him and told him to wait. Months later, the tree grew stronger, and in time, it produced fruit he could not have rushed.

The Danger of Quitting Too Early

Today’s key text reminds us that immediate results are not always guaranteed. The beginning stages can be slow and even disappointing. Like that tree, growth often happens where you can’t see it. Patience lets it grow, while pride wants quick results and becomes upset when they don’t come.

You may find yourself checking again and again, hoping something has changed. You put in effort, but nothing seems to move. The man could have pulled out the tree too soon and missed what it would become. In the same way, quitting early can cut off something that only needed more time.

What You Might Miss If You Rush

Patience stays when things feel slow. It keeps going without the requirement for regular proof. Pride, on the other hand, desires immediate results and loses interest when progress is not apparent. However, actual growth frequently occurs quietly, developing power before anything visible on the outside.

Stay with what is in front of you today. Do not give up just because you cannot see results yet. Give it time. What feels slow now may still grow into something good if you remain patient and see it through.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to be patient and trust in what You are doing, even if I can’t see it yet.
