When Answers Don’t Come Quickly

Daily Devotional – Saturday, 18, 2026
O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!”
and You will not save.

Habakkuk 1:2 (NKJV)

You talk and wait for something to change, but nothing does. The silence stays, and your heart starts to feel heavy. Questions arise quietly, and you start to wonder if anyone is hearing what you say. Those places can be very lonely and confusing.

The Weight of Unanswered Prayer

Habakkuk lived in a time of violence and unfairness, and he was not afraid to show how angry he was. He asked God his questions directly. This wasn’t a lack of faith; it was a sign of it. He thought God was there, even though he didn’t know what God was up to.

God’s silence does not mean He is not there. God was already doing something bigger than Habakkuk could see in his story. Not all delays are refusals. It can be a part of a process that happens over time, changing both the situation and the heart in ways that aren’t obvious right away.

When Answers Don’t Come Quickly

Real faith doesn’t act like everything is okay. It keeps turning to God, even when it doesn’t know what to do. He doesn’t push questions away. They are welcome. It’s okay to be unsure, to wait, and to learn to trust beyond what you can see or feel right now.

Today, feel free to express your questions openly. Don’t hesitate to express yourself, and resist the temptation to withdraw. Even when you’re quiet, keep looking for God. What you think is unanswered is not unheard, and in time, His answer will come with more clarity, purpose, and care than you expected.

Prayer
Almighty God, help me to trust You, even when I can’t hear You clearly.
