When God Hears Your Cry

Daily Devotional – Monday, September 28, 2026
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.
Psalm 145:19 (NKJV)

Psalm 145 is a song of praise in which David celebrates God’s greatness, goodness, and care. He speaks of God’s righteousness, compassion, patience, and abundant mercy. As the psalm draws toward its close, he says that the Lord is near to those who call on Him in truth. Then in verse 19, the king talks about how God responds to those who fear Him.

Trusting God With Your Desires

According to David, God will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He is referring to those who approach God with reverence and depend on Him. Their desires exist within that relationship. The psalmist then adds, “He also will hear their cry and save them.” He presents God as attentive to His people when they call. The verse gives us a picture of a God who knows what people long for, listens to their cries, and acts on their behalf.

The surrounding verses help us understand this promise. The psalm describes a God who is righteous in all His ways, gracious in His works, and near to those who call on Him sincerely. Today’s key text gives us confidence in that character. We can bring our desires honestly to Him, trusting His wisdom, timing, and way of answering. His response remains consistent with His righteousness, grace, and care for those who fear Him.

When God Hears Your Cry

You may be praying about something you deeply want. Perhaps you need work, a financial solution, healing in a relationship, or direction about an important decision. You know what you want, yet you cannot determine how the answer will come. This verse gives you a reason to keep praying. God knows your desire. He hears your cry. You can speak honestly with Him without pretending that the burden is small or that you already know how He should answer.

Bring the desire that has been occupying your thoughts to God today. Tell Him plainly what you want, ask Him for help, and trust Him with the outcome. Keep walking with Him as you wait. This scripture gives you something solid to remember when the answer seems delayed. The God who hears your cry is the same God David describes throughout this psalm as righteous, gracious, compassionate, and near. You can place your request safely in His hands.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, You know what I long for, and You hear me when I call You. Help me trust Your wisdom, continue to lean on You and rest in Your faithful care.
