In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.
Psalm 94:19 (NKJV)
I remember the day I was waiting at the hospital for my COVID-19 test results. I dreaded the stigma I would face if I tested positive. My mind raced through the effects of the disease, which had already killed many people. My heart sank. Thankfully, my family offered me support and encouragement, which eased my anxiety.
When Thoughts Crowd the Mind
In the ninety-fourth psalm, the people of God, apparently, are going through a period of mistreatment, but God’s comfort penetrates the cloud of anxiety. Heavenly consolation doesn’t get rid of problems right away, but it provides the psalmist with peace and comfort.
You probably have experienced a plethora of fears at some point in your life. God sees everything; hence, He offers you peace of mind. In times of trouble, the Lord does not scold the heart that is worried. Instead, He meets people where they are and gently brings them back to a place of joy and stability.
When the Mind Won’t Slow Down
When problems assail us, God’s comfort can reach our hearts if we allow it. Consequently, worries stop controlling us. The soul starts to enjoy God’s constant care and realises that His presence is more stable than the worries that come with daily life.
If you have many anxious thoughts today, tell the Lord about your worries in an honest manner. Remember, He is close by and can calm you through the Bible study, prayer, and trusting Him. Take a moment today to let God’s comforting presence settle your mind and fill you with hope.
Prayer
Loving Father, in the multitude of my anxieties within me, may Your comforts delight my soul.
