While You Are Waiting…

Daily Devotional – Thursday, October 1, 2026
Therefore, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
Micah 7:7 (NKJV)

There is something difficult about waiting when you have already done your part. You sent the application, made the call, submitted the proposal, or had the conversation. Now you can only wait. You check your phone more often than you want to admit. The longer you wait, the more questions start running through your mind. You have done what you could, yet there is nothing else to do but wait. That can be frustrating when all you want is some clarity.

I Will Wait for the God of My Salvation

Micah understood that kind of uncertainty. He lived in a troubled time and saw injustice, broken relationships, and people turning away from what was right. He could have allowed everything around him to determine where he placed his confidence. Instead, he said, “I will look to the LORD.” When circumstances become confusing, where we look matters. We can keep staring at the problem, or we can turn our attention to God.

Then the seer says, “I will wait for the God of my salvation.” The prophet knew whom he was waiting for. There are moments when you cannot make an answer come faster. You cannot make someone change their mind, create an opportunity, or force a door open. You still have things you can do, but some things must be left with God. Waiting can teach us to remain faithful without having everything settled.

While You Are Waiting…

The final words make the verse especially personal: “My God will hear me.” His confidence rests in knowing that God hears him. That matters especially when you have prayed about the same issue repeatedly. Perhaps you are waiting for work, an opportunity, reconciliation, direction, or an answer you have carried before God for a long time. The silence may feel uncomfortable, but you are not speaking into an empty room. God hears you.

As you wait, do what you can, be faithful with what is in front of you, and resist measuring God’s care by how quickly your situation changes. Some answers take longer than we expect. You may not understand the delay, but you can still choose where you look. Micah gives us a simple way to hold on: “I will look to the LORD.” Keep looking. Keep waiting. Keep praying. Your God will hear you.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me trust You while I wait. May I remain patient when the answer seems slow. When I start wondering whether You hear me, remind me that every prayer I bring to You matters.
