Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Psalms 30:5 (NKJV)
We all have those nights, maybe not just literal ones, but seasons in life where it feels like everything is falling apart. You pray, but God feels far. You cry, but there’s no relief. You wonder, “How long will this last?”
Weeping May Endure for a Night
Our key text reminds us that even in our hardest moments, God has not left us. His correction or silence may feel heavy for a time, but it is never the whole story. God’s love and favour go far deeper and last far longer than any pain we experience. The hard moments are temporary, but His kindness? That’s for a lifetime.
The psalmist reminds farther asserts, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” What a beautiful promise! God knows our nights; those tear-filled hours, those quiet, painful struggles. Notice He also promises a morning, a turning point, a fresh start, and a joyful one at that.
How Long Will this Last?
What kind of “night” are you going through right now? What would it look like to trust that morning is coming? Can you remember a time when God pulled you through something you didn’t think you would survive? What did your “morning” look like? What small glimpses of joy is God offering you even now?
Prayer
Almighty God, thank You for understanding my pain. Some days are just hard but I am holding on to Your promise that joy is coming. Help me keep going, even when it is dark. I trust that You are working, even when I can’t see it, and that my morning will come.
