But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

Have you ever felt like you just don’t quite belong? No matter how good life gets, you may still feel that something is missing. That deep feeling, the longing for something more, is not a flaw. It is a reminder that God made us to serve a purpose beyond our current existence.
Not Ashamed of His People
The heroes of faith lived with that kind of hope. They believed in God’s promises even when they could not see them. They did not settle for the comfort or applause of the world because they were looking forward to something better. They lived like this world was temporary,as if they were just passing through.
Their faith and attitude made God very proud of them. He was delighted to be called their God. Indeed, He had already prepared a real home, where they would live with Him.
When You Know Something Better Awaits
The invitation is ours, too. It is tempting to chase after things we can see and touch, but deep down, we know those things never fully satisfy. God has placed eternity in our hearts, and He wants us to remain focused on the promise of a blissful future.
If you feel a little out of place in this world, take heart and remember something better awaits you. You were never meant to settle here. God sees your journey, honors your faith, and is preparing something amazing for you.
Prayer
Almighty God, when life gets hard or confusing, remind me that You have prepared something far better. Help me live with my heart set on You, trusting You every step of the way.
