Move Forward by Faith

Daily Devotional – Monday, June 30, 2025
Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it.
Exodus 14:15-16 (NKJV)

In our spiritual journey, we must learn to listen keenly to God’s instructions and to walk by faith always. Only then is success guaranteed. The experience of the Israelites, shortly before they crossed the Red Sea, is a good example of this fact.

March On

When the Israelites see the approaching Egyptian army, they panic. Moses encourages them, “Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today…The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:13-14). Then he cries to the Lord for help.

Now, notice God’s reply and instruction to Moses: “Tell the children of Israel to go forward.” (Verse 15). In addition to stopping to worry, they must march towards the Red Sea. Moses will then go ahead of them to the shore of the sea, where he will stretch out his arm, and a highway will appear in the middle of the waters.

Move Forward by Faith

That is how the Red Sea parted for the Israelites. They moved forward, and so did the waters of the sea. Faith entails listening to God keenly to know which instructions to follow at what time. It means believing in God and taking action even before we see the results.

Success results from a combination of divine help and human effort. Are you listening to God? Are you walking forward by faith?

Heavenly Father, in my moments of distress and doubt, teach me to discern your voice and to walk by faith. May I never forget that
