Have You Heard the Battle Cry?

Daily Devotional – Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13 (NKJV)

As he concludes his first epistle to the church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul makes a battle cry. This is a timely exhortation, not only to the Corinthians but also to contemporary Christians, considering the challenges we encounter in their journey to heaven.

A Call to Fight

A soldier in the battlefield cannot afford to be complacent because the enemy can attack at any time. If we are to avoid being devoured by the roaring and prowling lion called Satan, we must ever be watchful through regular and sincere prayer.

Secondly, we must learn to stand fast in the faith. This is the natural thing to do after waking up from spiritual slumber and starting to watch. When we stand on the word of God and the promises thereof, our victory is assured.

Thirdly, it takes godly courage to continue fighting. The devil wants us to perish with the same or greater intensity than we want to live eternally. Only the indwelling Holy Spirit can empower us to overcome and live positively and victoriously.

Finally, soldiers on the battlefront must be strong. Elsewhere, Paul states, “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10). By aligning ourselves with the Almighty and letting Him lead us into battle, we become victors.

Have you heard the battle cry? Are you vigilant, steadfast, brave, and strong? Invite God into your life, study, meditate on, and obey God’s word. Be fervent in prayer and be a winner with Christ.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, I have heard the battle cry and I am ready because You are leading the me to victory.
