You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.
Joshua 23:14 (NKJV)
Have you ever looked back at your life and realised how far you have come? Maybe there was a time when you wondered how things would work out. You prayed, waited, worried, and kept going. Looking back now, you may realise that some things worked out differently than expected, yet God carried you through. When we are in the middle of a difficult season, we rarely see the whole picture. Sometimes we see God’s faithfulness more clearly when we look back.
He Has Kept His Word
Joshua had seen God’s hand throughout Israel’s journey. He had watched God lead them through battles, difficulties, mistakes, and seasons of waiting. As he reflected on those years, one truth stood out clearly: God had kept His promises. Joshua’s testimony came from years of walking with God and seeing His word fulfilled. From everything he had witnessed, he could confidently say, “Not one thing has failed.”
God had not promised the Israelites a trouble-free journey. Yet Joshua could testify that God had never failed to keep His word. Some promises took time. Others were fulfilled through circumstances Israel might not have chosen. When Joshua looked back at everything they had been through, he could see God’s hand in their story. Their journey had not been easy or perfect, but through the good times, setbacks, mistakes, and waiting, God had never stopped being faithful.
Not One Word of Them Has Failed
We often become so focused on what God has not done that we forget what He has already done. We remember the unanswered prayers and forget the answered ones. We notice the door that closed and forget the ones God opened for us. We dwell on what is uncertain today and forget the difficult places He has already brought us through. However, when we change the paradigm, we begin to notice God’s faithfulness in places we had almost forgotten.
Think about situations that once worried you, needs God met, strength He gave you, and moments when He made a way. You may still have unanswered questions, and you may not know what tomorrow holds. That does not change what you already know about God. Like Joshua, you can look back over your journey and say, “Not one word of them has failed.” Then place what remains uncertain into the hands of the God who has been faithful throughout your journey.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for carrying me this far. Help me remember Your faithfulness when I worry about tomorrow. Teach me to trust You with the days ahead.
