A Place to Call Home

Daily Devotional – Tuesday, April 1, 2025
Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.
Ephesians 2:19 (NKJV)

The sense of belonging has a strong hold. Humans yearn for belonging, acceptance, and a place where they feel at ease. Today’s key text reminds us of a transformative reality: that we are not foreigners before God. Indeed, we are members of God’s household and citizens of His kingdom.

Fellow Citizens With the Saints

Prior to knowing Christ, they lived as spiritual outsiders, cut off from God. Because of our sin, we were not entitled to the benefits of His presence. However, Jesus has brought us closer. We are family in God’s house, not only visitors. We belong to His eternal kingdom, are His sons and daughters, and are the heirs of His promises.

We should feel happy and confident knowing this reality. Regardless of our origins, our past, or our feelings of inadequacy, we have a place to call home in Jesus. Christ’s family on earth, the Church, is not just a location we go to.

A Place to Call Home

Do you genuinely believe that you are a valued part of God’s family? What effects does being a citizen of God’s kingdom have on your life and interactions with other people? Do you still feel alienated from those around you? How can you show them the love of God? How reassuring is it to know that you have a place to call home even beyond this life?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am eternally grateful to you for giving me a place to call home, here on earth and in eternity. May this comforting reality inspire me to invite others to become part of this wonderful family.
