A Rare Virtue

The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.
Proverbs 12:22 (NKJV)

Honesty strikes a deep chord in God’s heart, but it is a rare virtue among human beings. That is why “the LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” (Proverbs 12:22). Jesus is the epitome of honesty. He never compromised the truth for the sake of fame or self-interest because of His unwavering integrity.

An Unusual Quality

Our hearts are where trustworthiness starts. It’s about telling the truth with our ideas, intentions, and words as well. We have to resist the need to trick or control people in order to further our own interests.

Sincere relationships based on mutual respect and trust are made possible by being honest in our interactions with others. By treating people with the respect and integrity they deserve, we honour the image of God in everyone around us when we tell the truth.

A Rare Virtue

But being honest isn’t always simple. There may be occasions when being vulnerable and brave is necessary to convey the truth. We could be afraid of the repercussions or concerned about how other people would see us. Nevertheless, we have solace in the knowledge that God respects our fidelity to the truth.

Let us keep in mind that Jesus Christ is our ultimate example as we work to live honest lives. He is the life, the way, and the truth. We may reflect His honesty and integrity in a world that is in dire need of His light by remaining in Him and allowing His Spirit to work inside us. Let’s work to obtain this uncommon virtue.
