By faith, Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
Hebrews 11:31 (NKJV)
The preacher startled John from slumber. “If you are sure you would go to heaven if Jesus returned now, stand up and come to the podium!” John had never experienced such a moment of self-search! He searched his mind’s archives to see whether there was sin God had not forgiven.
Undeserving Rahab
The more the teenager examined his past and present behavior, the more he saw his sinfulness. John concluded he was unworthy of salvation. His sins were so many, God would not forgive him. Meanwhile, some of John’s friends started walking towards the podium. He walked out of church, hoping to find peace away from the pews.
If only John had studied Rahab! This woman of loose morals sheltered the men who came to Jericho to spy the land and city before invading it. Apparently, Rahab had heard about the conquests of the Israelites and was attracted to the worship ofJehovah. She sheltered the spies and gave them safe passage out of Jericho.
By Faith Rahab the Prostitute Did Not Perish
When the spies returned, and Jericho fell to the army of the Lord, Rahab and her family became part of the family of faith. Indeed, Jesus is in the lineage of Rahab, the prostitute of Jericho. The vilest offender, the anathema of Jericho, found grace in the eyes of the Lord. To her society, she was a detestable woman but to God, she deserved to be a grandparent of Jesus.
As Paul would later comment, “By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.” (Hebrews 11:31). God saves us by grace through faith. We do not deserve His mercies and kindness. We may feel unworthy like John, but when we approach God in faith like Rahab, God accepts and forgives us.
Are You Worthy?
Are you worthy of salvation and eternal life? No. Left to yourself, you would perish in your sins. Does God extend His love towards you, nonetheless? Yes. Irrespective of whatever sins you have committed and how society regards you, God makes you worthy to inherit eternal life. You will never be too evil for God to save. Be like Rahab, turn your life to Jesus.
Prayer
I am forever grateful to You for making me worthy to inherit eternal life.

Rahabs story is a saving power of the Grace of God. After all we kntif her past, we’d learn that, after the Devil has done his worst on your life, God’s getting ready to offer a best comeback and when God gets through with you, even the devil will stand in awe and say”Look ,what amazing grace has done”
I was that, and I am now this and the difference is THE GRACE OF GOD.
