In everything, give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)
A sloth was stuck on a busy highway. A sympathetic man stopped his car. He picked the animal gently and took it into a forest across the road.
With one limb, the animal turned and waved at the man. On its face was a big smile. Its eyes shone with joy. It was the sloth’s way of saying, ‘Thank you’ to its rescuer.
Similarly, in Luke 17:11-19, Christ healed ten lepers. He resurrected them, symbolically. Can you imagine their joy when they realized they were free from leprosy?
It was shocking, therefore, to hear the Healer say, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” (Luke 17:17-18).
When a person gives genuinely, they do not expect repayment. However, when the receiver is not thankful, the giver wanders what kind of a person the beneficiary is.
When someone assists you, you feel relieved and happy. Remember to express your gratitude. If an animal can do it, you can, too.
According to healthline.com, an attitude of gratitude enhances your immune system, boosts your mental health and increases optimism.
Moreover, to keep your relationships happy and thriving, learn to say ‘thank you’ to people who help you.
In addition, when you are grateful, you are fulfilling God’s will. Paul says, “In everything, give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
What are you thanking God for today? Is there a person you need to be grateful to?
Father, teach me to be thankful in all things.
Animals express gratitude when you are good to them. Why do we forget to be thankful to God and others? Do you think we express gratitude enough? Let me know through your comments.
