At the Crossroads of Faith

This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’
Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV)

I once joined a group of friends on a hiking adventure in the hills. Everything was exciting until we realized we had taken a wrong turn. We tried moving forward, hoping to find our way out, but that only led us deeper into confusion. Then someone suggested we go back to the last familiar point on the trail. As soon as we did, the sense of panic faded and peace returned. We had found our way again.

Finding the Way Back

This is what God was asking the Israelites to do. They had wandered from His ways and lost their spiritual direction. God invited them to pause, reflect, and return to the “old paths”, the proven way of obedience, faith, and fellowship with Him. He wanted them to remember where they once walked closely with Him and to return there. Only by retracing their steps could they find true rest for their souls.

At the Crossroads of Faith

The same truth applies to us today. Sometimes life feels confusing because we have drifted from the path God set for us. Maybe prayer has become rare, or worship feels distant. Yet God lovingly calls us to come back to the place where our hearts once burned with love for Him.

Do you remember the peace and joy you had when you first gave your life to Christ? That place still exists. You only need to turn around and walk back to it.

Lord Jesus, when I lose my way, help me return to You and find peace in Your presence once again.
