Be Strong in the Lord!

Daily Devotional: Monday, May 27, 2024
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Ephesians 6:10 (KJV)

We deal with many difficulties on a daily basis in both the temporal and spiritual realms. It’s easy to quit up when things get hard and we feel overwhelmed. But because we are winners with God, we are required to be strong.

Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power,” is the message that the apostle Paul gives to believers. (See Ephesians 6:10). We are to take strength from the infinite supply of God’s power. He is powerful when we are weak. He is our rest when we are worn out. He is our serenity in times of anxiety.

Stand Strong in God

God’s promises must be internalized into our hearts and minds through memorization and meditation if we are to be powerful. They will give us comfort in knowing that God is with us and prepared to strengthen us when we are weak.

Another instrument for empowerment is prayer. By praying, we confess our reliance on God and give Him access to our lives. Let us resort to prayer in trying times, asking God to give us the strength to get through our difficulties.

Be Strong in the Lord

Moreover, we need to put on God’s armor in order to be powerful (verses 10–18). God has given us strong instruments to strengthen us, and these include the sword of the Spirit, the gospel of peace, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith.

To be strong in the Lord does not mean we will not feel fearful at times. It is admitting our helplessness before Him and enabling His might to operate through us. Let us cling to God’s powerful power as we go about our daily lives, knowing that He is our unwavering rock and our everlasting source of strength.

Prayer
Almighty Father, as I face the challenges of this day, I will be strong because you are with me.
