And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.
1 Corinthians 15:17 (NLT)
Crucifixion Friday was the saddest day in the lives of many followers of Christ. A big number had expected Jesus to conqueror the Roman oppressors and to rescue Israelites from colonialism.
That Saturday, as they rested in obedience to God’s commandments, there was nothing to gladden their hearts.
On Sunday morning, an empty tomb greeted the anxious women who wanted to give their master a decent burial. “He is not here; he has risen,” an angel announced (Matthew 28:6). Then, they must have remembered Jesus’ prophecy that He would resurrect on the third day.
According to 1 Corinthians 15, if there is no resurrection, then Christ is still dead (v. 13). However, because Jesus rose from the dead, our faith and preaching are not useless (v. 14). Yes, you are a Christian because Christ is alive.
Because the tomb could not hold the Son of God, your Christian profession is genuine. Because Jesus resurrected, your sins are forgiven (v. 17). Because Christ is risen, those who die in Him have the assurance of resurrection and eternal life (v. 18).
Because Christ resurrected, you can be born again; you can start a new life of righteousness. Because He lives, you can face tomorrow, with all its uncertainties. Because Jesus is no longer in the tomb, you can rejoice for you serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
Today, take time to appreciate the importance of Christ’s resurrection in your life. Remember, because Christ is risen, you can walk in the newness of life today.
Lord Jesus, impress upon me the importance of Your resurrection in my life.
Our hope and faith in Christ as His followers is assured by His resurrection.
A wonderful reminder. Thankyou
