Blessed are they that Believe Without Seeing

Daily Devotional – Saturday, August 13, 2022
…Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
John 20:29 (NKJV)

Imagine living and interacting with Jesus daily. You know Him personally. He knows you, too. You know his mother and siblings. Perhaps Christ has visited your home and had a meal. You have witnessed Christ performing miracles.

When you have a problem, you approach Him directly and pour your heart to Him. He gives you immediate answers. You have touched Him and listened as He taught. What a privilege!

Unless I See, I Will not Believe

Having been an eyewitness, therefore, your faith in Jesus would be strong. That was the case with many disciples except one – Thomas. Although Jesus had assured disciples He would rise from the dead, Thomas doubted the news of the resurrection.

He told the other disciples, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” (John 20:25).

When Jesus appeared when Thomas was present, He allowed the doubter to touch the scars. The Lord then made this profound statement: “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29).

Blessed are they that Believe Without Seeing

Thank God, that those of us who never lived with and interacted with Jesus physically are more blessed than the first disciples. In the words of Paul, “…faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1).

We do not need physical touch with Jesus to have a personal vibrant relationship with Him. Jesus may not walk amidst us but He lives in our hearts through God the Holy Spirit. Jesus continues to transform us into His image every day.

Until we meet Jesus and have physical contact with Him in heaven, let us get to know Him more though the Holy Spirit, Bible study, prayer and personal revelation.

Prayer
Thank You, Jesus, because I do not need to know You physically to have a personal relationship with You.
