And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.
Genesis 1:31 (KJV)
When we set our minds to accomplish a task and achieve a goal, and involve God in everything we do, we will realize the desires of our hearts. In the story of creation, God teaches us the importance of posing to celebrate progress and achievement.
Rejoicing Daily
The first chapter of the Bible reveals God the Master Project Manager at work. While He had the ability to create everything in one day, He decided to phase His work into days. Each work’s day was a milestone in the project.
Consequently, at the end of every day of creation, God monitored what He had accomplished and gave Himself a mark. Take, for example, day three. “And God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:12).
Jubilation Over a Special Project
Pause to think what that statement meant to God and the heavenly angelic hosts. I believe there was festivity in heaven. God’s special project of creating a habitation for human beings was progressing well.
The pattern repeated itself on the days that followed. On the sixth day, God created His masterpiece. In Psalms 8:3-6, David marvels at God’s special treatment of Adam and his offspring:
Crowned With Glory and Honor
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet.
Everything was Very Good
Such a special event called for merriments in heaven. Here is a statement to confirm the exceeding joy in heaven: “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31). God evaluated His work and gave Himself grade A+.
The Lord set an example for us. Whenever we make progress in our plans or achieve the ultimate goal, it is important to pause, give glory to God and celebrate. Is that not the same reason we commemorate birthdays?
Celebrating Progress and Achievement
Notice that God celebrated every day. What are you grateful for today? Being a special being to God and being alive are enough reasons to rejoice. As you wait to throw a party for your progress in the coming days, how can you demonstrate your gratitude to God before Him and your fellow human beings?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I know I will have many opportunities to celebrate my progress and achievement in future but today I am overjoyed for being alive and being Your special project.
