But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (NIV)
A euphoric Roman general has just returned from battle. He is leading a procession. In it are jubilant soldiers, singing at the top of their voice.
Look closely and you will see captives matching in the parade as it passes through city streets. No souvenir has a greater significance than this.
The victory must not only be seen and heard; it must also be smelled. Incense is burned generously. And so the triumphant party marches through the streets, amid cheers from the witnessing crowds. The valiant general leads the way.
Paul, borrowing from this scenario, wrote, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.” 2 Corinthians 2:14-15.
Christ has conquered death and sin. He now leads Christians as captives. Paul is part of the triumphal procession. He is a happy captive, not a despondent one.
We, captives, spread the perfume of the knowledge of God as we march in Christ’s parade. We cannot keep quite after Jesus has rescued us from the jaws of eternal death.
Jesus paid the price for our salvation on the cross. We are marching to Zion. Christ leads the celebrations.
Today, don’t allow worry and sadness to engulf your soul. Spread this positivity to others. You are a victor because you follow Christ. Soon, we will enter the gates of heaven with immeasurable joy.
Until then, march with confidence and joy.
Thank you, Lord, for always leading me to victory in Christ Jesus.
Praise to the lord for his enduring love
Amen, Brian.
Whenever one has victory from God he /she has alot of joy matching for this victory. He talks of it with confidence because it is genuine victory.
This is my portion in Jesus name.
Hallelujah, Pastor.
Thanks be the lord for the victory he has given unto us.
Amen, Sister, and thanks for commenting.
