Created for God’s Glory

Daily Devotional – Friday, January 27, 2023
Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory. I have formed him, yes, I have made him.
Isaiah 43:7 (NKJV)

Man is created for God’s glory. It is on the sixth day of creation. God is about to complete His work. For the past five days, He has spoken the world into being. His final act, though, is different.

Formed to Glorify God

God stoops down, mixes water with soil and fashions the most beautiful creature ever. He then breathes into the nostrils of the creature and it becomes a living being. Millennia later, David meditates this unique act and exclaims:
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor
. (Psalms 8:3-5).

Fashioned to Praise God

Man is the icing on the creation cake as it were. He is God’s masterpiece. He epitomizes the wisdom, power and love of God. The Creator even creates a special home on earth for man – the Garden of Eden.

In Eden, God meets and communes with Adam and Eve. His home is in heaven but He loves spending time with his exceptional children. Angels also come to minister to the human family.

Made for Jehovah’s Exaltation

What exactly is God’s intention in creating man? When addressing the rebellious Israelites through prophet Isaiah, God provides the answer. He says, “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory. I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” (Isaiah 43:7).

Like the ancient Israelites, Christians must accept and live up to the fact that they are God’s special people, created for His glory. We are Christians because we belong to and follow Jesus Christ, the Creator of heaven and other.

Created for God’s Glory

God wants us to represent Him on earth. Our role is to reflect the light of God to a world in darkness so that many may know Him and be saved. Through us, others are to know the unconditional love, kindness and mercy of God.

While getting the best education, amassing wealth, raising a good family, being a committed church member and helping others are important aspects of life, they should not obscure the fact that you were created for God’s glory.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me that You created me for Your glory. Show me how to reflect that glory.
