So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name.
Malachi 3:16 (NIV)
A heavy storm was coming our way as night fell. With my nephew perched on my shoulder, I hurried home. The roaring thunder shook the ground and threatened to split my eardrums.
In contrast, my nephew was enjoying the ride. He kept asking question after another. Then it happened. A blinding lightning turned night into day, momentarily. The little man shut up at once.
“Uncle”, his shaky voice did not take long to resurface, “God has taken a photo of us.” “Yes”, I respond. What else could I say?
What if God takes photos of us when lighting happens? Is there an album in heaven? How many times do I appear in it? In what situations were my photos taken?
Later, as I reflected on my nephew’s words, Malachi 3:16 came to mind. “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name.”
If God has an album, it is called the Book of Remembrance. In it you will find names of God-fearing people who find time to fellowship and discuss the word of God.
They gather in churches, homes, schools, markets, social halls, open fields and other places to “meditate on His Name”. God’s angels attend, also, to mark the register and write reports Do they take photos also?
Am I God-fearing? Do I attend meetings where God is praised and worshipped? How many times do I appear in God’s photo album? How about you?
Prayer
Father, remind me to attend gatherings of God-fearing people.
Amen, will my name be written there, a challenge to always think about.
This question should not escape our minds at all times. Amen, Brian.
