He shall be like a tree, Planted by the rivers of water… And whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalms 1:3 (NKJV)
As a boy, I loved our local river. In our hot tropical weather, nothing cools the body like swimming. I also treasured fishing and devouring a meal of delicious fish, straight from the river.
Generally, however, I loved the river because it was always green when all other vegetation was dry, owing to the scorching sun. Here, I would find berries and other wild fruits in abundance, no matter the season.
In the first Psalm, David describes a person who loves God, and who delights in God’s law, thus, “He shall be like a tree, Planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither…” (Psalm 1:3).
In a dry land like Israel, finding a pool of water must have been a relief. Shepherds would be eager to bring their sheep to quench their thirst and feed on the grass around the water body.
In the same way, when we build our lives around Christ, our physical, emotional, social and spiritual lives thrive. Those who live around us know they can rely on us to demonstrate godly character at all times.
Of such a person, David concludes, “…And whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:3). The secret of prosperity is obedience to God.
Do you want to succeed in all you do? Evaluate your life and see where you have failed to obey God. By His grace, decide to start living according to God’s will today.
Father, I want to succeed in all I do. Please lead me on the path of obedience.
This reminds of this weeks lesson also emphasizing on obedience and faith.
Be blessed, Brian
Father I want to succeed in all my things. May you lead me to the way of prosperity.
This is my prayer
Amen
