Embracing Christ’s Attitude

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, April 30, 2025
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Philippians 2:3 (NKJV)

We live in a world that often tells us to focus on getting ahead, standing out, and making sure our voices are heard. However, our key text points us in a different direction. Paul is urging us to let go of selfishness and pride and, instead, choose to see other people as more important than ourselves.

Esteem Each Other Better than Yourself

That doesn’t mean you have to think poorly of yourself. It is not about shrinking down or pretending you don’t matter. It is about turning your focus outward, caring about others, paying attention to their needs, and being willing to lift them up, even when it costs you something.

This is exactly how Jesus lived. Even though He was God, He didn’t hold on to His status. He stepped down, became human, and served. He didn’t come to be praised but to pour out His life for others.

Embracing Christ’s Attitude

Just imagine what our relationships would look like if we followed His example. There would be less arguing, less competition, more kindness, more peace, and more love. When we learn to put others first, we reflect the very heart of Jesus.

Ask yourself, are there areas in my life where I am chasing recognition or putting myself first? Who is someone I can intentionally serve or encourage today? How would my relationships change if I approached them with the attitude of Jesus?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me embrace your attitude of not chasing attention or approval but looking for ways to serve others. Teach me to make room in my heart for love, kindness, and compassion.
