“O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
Daniel 6:20 (NKJV)
When Daniel’s enemies hatched a plan to trap Daniel, “they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him.” (Daniel 6:4, NKJV).
Their crafty minds devised another strategy. “We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God.” (Daniel 6:5, NKJV). This trap worked. They caught Daniel red-handed – praying to the Almighty God.
Early the following morning, King Darius was at the lion’s den. He called out, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” (Daniel 6:20, NKJV).
Then came the confirmation that God had not let His servant down. “My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” (Daniel 6:22, NKJV).
This story teaches us three important lessons on how to escape the devil’s snares:
- Perform your duties and responsibilities so diligently and faithfully that human beings will not find a reason to accuse you.
- The devil and his agents may succeed for a short time but not forever.
- Never compromise on your relationship with God. He will always come through for you if you remain faithful to Him.
Father, give me faith and courage to remain faithful to you at all times. I know you will never forsake me.
What lessons can we derive from the lion’s den? Please add more as you comment. Be blessed.
