The apostle Paul speaks to a group of people in Romans 14 who are struggling with variations in religious beliefs, especially with regard to eating. Our key text emphasizes how crucial faith is to our choices and behaviors. It emphasizes how critical it is for us to utilize faith when making decisions.

Whatever is Not From Faith

Doubt might quietly seep in. We could start to wonder if the decisions we make are honoring God. Paul warns us that we run the risk of going against God’s plan if we act without faith, even when it comes to something as basic as eating. This serves as a sobering reminder that our spiritual journey is about more than rules. It has to do with one’s relationship to God.

Are you struggling with doubt in some areas of your life? Praying your uncertainties to God can help you become clear-headed and confident. Be mindful that someone can struggle with different beliefs from yours. Give them support and understanding instead of passing judgment or brushing them off. You can both grow in grace as your faith fortifies theirs.

Faith and Decision-making

Seek God’s help in making decisions, but when in doubt, pause to rethink. This is not a sign of weakness but an opportunity to tap into God’s wisdom. It is the prism through which we see the world and the decisions we make. Approach your everyday tasks with a trustful heart, understanding that God wants our deeds to be a reflection of His truth and love.

Father in heaven, always remind me to tap into Your wisdom whenever I am in doubt. Increase my faith so that my decisions bring glory to You.
