My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)
Through today’s key text, God is speaking directly to His own people: not strangers, not outsiders, but those who were supposed to be walking closely with Him. The Israelites were falling apart spiritually, all because they chose not to know God deeply.
My People are Destroyed
God’s lament is not just about God’s people merely lacking information. It entails rejecting the truth that God had already made available. The people were uninterested. They turned away from God’s Word and wisdom, and as a result, they suffered.
We, too, can fall into the same trap. When life gets busy, we can easily push God to the side, ignore His nudging, and pursue what feels good instead of what is right. The more we do that, though, the more we drift. Eventually, we find ourselves confused, anxious, or feeling far from God, not because He moved, but because we stopped listening.
For Lack of Knowledge
God values relationships above religious routines. Our relationship with Him grows when we make time for Him: reading the Bible, praying, listening, and applying what He shows us. When we take Him seriously, we acquire wisdom, peace, direction, and strength to face whatever life throws our way.
So today, ask yourself: Am I making room for God’s truth in my life? Am I really listening? His Word is not just helpful. It is vital. Let us not miss what He is saying. Let us be careful lest we get destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I don’t want to live on empty for lack of knowledge. Give me a heart that longs to know You more. Fill me with wisdom and lead me into the kind of life You designed for me to live.
