From Tears to Joy

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Psalms 126:5 (NKJV)

There are seasons of hope and adversity on the journey of life. In the midst the hardships of this life, Psalms 126:5 provides us with a meaningful promise. The picture of planting tears and harvesting joyous harvests aptly conveys the transformational force of faith and tenacity.

From Sorrow to Happiness

When we are going through difficult and depressing circumstances, it can seem like we are sowing seeds on a barren field. However, even while it could appear like a silent, pointless deed, our tears are not in vain. It is during our teary moments that faith grows.

God does not promise that our tears will miraculously turn into joy. Rather, joy will come from our faithfulness in persevering through difficulties. The Lord assures us that the troubles we face have a purpose and are a part of a bigger scheme to develop our character and strengthen our faith.

From Tears to Joy

As you go about your daily activities, think about the aspects of your life where you might be crying. How can you put God’s promise of joy into greater trust? Consider the ways that, despite your challenges, you might be able to witness God at work in your life. May these reflections serve as a source of encouragement.

Recall that the same God who leads you through every season is also the one who offers joy after tears. Accept this promise and allow it to motivate you to keep on with faith and optimism. The happiness that follows will serve as evidence of the fortitude and affection that sustain us amid every adversity. May you progress from tears to joy.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, because my tears are not in vain. You will turn my sorrow to joy.
