Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might...
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)
The late Baptist preacher, Charles Spurgeon, once said, “Man was not created to be idle, he was not elected to be idle, he was not redeemed to be idle, he was not quickened to be idle, and he is not sanctified by God’s grace to be idle.”
Even before sin entered the world, man was instructed to ‘cultivate and keep’ the garden of Eden (Berean Study Bible). God, the master worker, had just come from creating the earth when He gave the instruction.
Unfortunately, people have taken advantage of the convenience of technology and the call to ‘work smart, not hard’. The Bible is emphatic that in this life, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
For most of His life, Jesus was a carpenter, toiling daily to make the best furniture for His clients. Later, during His gospel ministry, He said, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working” (John 5:17 – NIV).
As Christ’s follower, whatever God has assigned you to do, give it your best. In your profession, be known for your diligence. If you are a student, give it your best shot. If you are a parent, be the best there can ever be. In spiritual matters, do not slacken your hand.
Idleness and laziness are foreign to heaven. Slackness is frowned upon by God. Whatever it is God has put into your hands today, give it your best.
Prayer

We are to be good stewards of what God has given us and giving them the best shot is the justice God wants from us
