Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!
Luke 2:14 (NKJV)
In the quiet, holy night when Jesus was born, the sky erupted with the heavenly host praising God. The angels’ proclamation marks a turning point in history, as God’s peace and goodwill are now made available to all humankind through, thanks to Immanuel’s coming.
And on Earth, Peace
The angels’ song reminds us that God is worthy of all glory, and He has acted in history to reveal His glory in the most profound way. Moreover, Christ’s birth brings deep peace, which emanates from a saving knowledge of God. True peace calms our anxious hearts, heals our wounds, and restores us to the right relationship with our Creator.
The angels also proclaim that God’s kindness is offered to everyone through Jesus, irrespective of background, status, or sin. The depth of God’s love and desire for everyone to find peace and repair is made clear by the birth and ministry of Jesus.
Glory to God in the Highest
As we commemorate Christ’s birth, let us remember that we can find God’s peace regardless of the storms we are going through. All people continue to receive His kindness, which invites us to have a closer relationship with Him.
Let’s take a moment out of our hectic schedules, particularly around the festive season; may we never forget that Christ’s birth brought peace and good tidings to men. As we enjoy God’s peace today, let’s reach out with love to people in dire need by sharing that peace and kindness with others.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, may I exalt You in whatever I do, and may You rule with peace both within and outside of my heart.
