And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:14 (NKJV)
Happy New Year! You made it! God’s grace was sufficient for you. If there is a day to rejoice, this must be it. How far are you with your New Year plans and resolutions? If you want to have a productive and successful year, ask God to go with you.
I Will Not Go Up in Your Midst
Moses best exemplifies this attitude. In Exodus Chapter 33, God commands Moses to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land. The Lord promises to send His Angel before the Israelites to drive away the Canaanite tribes.
In verse 3, God makes this startling statement: “Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” In other words, because of your rebellious nature, I will restrict my interaction with you.
My Presence Will Go With You
The Israelites knew all too well what this meant. They mourned and took off their ornament. Meanwhile, Moses sought the face of the Lord. His intercessory skills were in high demand. When Moses was done, God promised, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Verse 14).
What an assurance! Moses, though, was not satisfied. He told God, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” (Verse 15). In essence, unless you are in the midst of us, we will not go to Canaan.
Not Leaving God Behind
Moses knew that God’s Presence meant the Lord was at peace with His children, and their impending mission would be successful. If God did not go with them, they would be annihilated by the Canaanites.
Have you submitted your New Year plans to God for approval? Can you say with confidence that your motives and plans are in tandem with God’s will? If you cannot pray, “Go with me, God,” shelve those plans.
Go With Me, LORD
What should you do? “Commit your way to the LORD. Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:5). Remember, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21, NIV).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, as I begin this New Year, please go with me. My plans are in your hands. May Your purpose prevail.

Amen, Pastor. Blessing to you and your family.
I also ask God to go with me through this new year till its old days, for without him, I will not move a single step.

Amen, Joseph. May God hear your prayer and go with you this year.
