I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)
Early one morning, we walked around a farm to access the path that led to our church, as we had done countless times. However, later that evening, as we went back home, we found a freshly dug road, right through the farm. We were overjoyed because the new road shortened the distance and time we had to cover. The government had made a way where there seemed to be none.
God Created a Way through the Sea
Similarly, and in a more spectacular and miraculous sense, God creates roads where there appears to be no way. Isaiah 43:16–17 is a good reminder. “This is what the LORD says: “He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick.”
This is a reference to the Red Sea crossing. The Israelites found themselves in a quandary. Behind them was the menacing, well-equipped Egyptian army, ready to capture the former slaves and take them back to Egypt. On both sides, there were mountain ranges. Before the scared Israelites, there was the Red Sea. Because He knows no impossibilities, God created a way in the most improbable place: the Red Sea.
I Am Making a Way in the Wilderness
Drawing from this historical lesson, God promised the Israelites of Isaiah’s era, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19). The human mind cannot conceptualize a highway in the desert and streams in the wilderness. In other words, God would do the unthinkable to facilitate the return of the Jewish exiles from Babylon.
The Lord still makes highways in the desert. He creates jobs where none exist and performs financial miracles. The Lord provides money for school fees, rent, and bills for people who have lost hope. Our Father still heals incurable diseases Hopeless addicts and social outcasts get a new lease on life when they run to Jesus. Nothing is impossible for those who believe in the God of miracles.
God Will Make a Way
Which impossibilities are you facing today? Present your case to God and believe He is able and willing to help you. As you wait for God to intervene, continue with your daily chores. Moreover, do not limit God. Allow Him to solve your problem His way, for God will make a way where there appears to be no way.
Prayer
Almighty God, whatever the challenges I face today, I know You will make a way for me.
